365 Cards - Day 34 Eggs-ellent II

...But there was a lot of paper left after the first three, so I thought I'd push it & have a go at seeing how many 5'x5' cards I could get out of 3 sheets of 8'x8' paper...

The answer is an huge SIX!!! With a single leftover scrap of 3'x2'. Result!The three done with leftovers get more and more fiddly as I had to cut more to get the coverage:the first one is the broad blue stripe flanked by green borders (top) the second one I cut what was left of the green & blue into 1cm strips and alternated them (the stripy one above), then

the third one needed some serious patchwork which happily lent itself to having the cut out egg that didn't work on any of the other cards plus two egg shaped trimmings (below).My camera bizarrely changed the colours of each card - the true colours for all the cards are the blue with yellow borders in the first post, and the patchwork one in this post above.

365 Days - Day 34 - That's Eggs-ellent I

Last week (before I'd found 365 Cards blog, I bought an Easter Egg stamp at Blade Rubber (London) fully intending to do some Easter cards - so it's lucky you guys gave us an Easter theme, or I doubt they would have got made!

I coloured 3 sheets of Dovecraft 8'x8' Designer value pack - yellow, green and blue plain paper, and then stamped all over them with the Easter Egg (Personal Impressions) using a mix of Vibrance forest green, Versa colours canary, cyan, lime, indigo & lapis lazuli with a bit of clear embossing and Dovecraft Chalks (brights & pastels).
During which I found out that (a) you can't use the Ranger Clear Resist on top of the chalks, it doesn't take, (b) the chalks work on the Ranger Clear Resist embossing as well as the paper, so you don't get the background colour showing through as outline and (c) chalks work really well over the top of stamping inks. All of which made the blue paper I decorated first, a bit 'samey', and not quite what I'd hoped for. Still, lessons learnt... So the green worked out better, and I didn't use chalks on the yellow at all. Then they just lurked on the table waiting for this challenge...
I was going to do just a couple of cards as that was all I needed, but after I'd done 3 that were just the decorated papers themselves (one of each colourway), the blue wasn't looking so good, so I added yellow borders which gave it a bit more definition. Then I thought, hmm not sure I can be bothered putting away the bits that are left, how many more cards could I make from the scraps....
